Petey could play a duet with Beni and his hammer!

Judging from the sounds he’s making, I think Petey is playing John Coltrane’s arrangement of “The Jolly Little Elf Makes Toys In Santa’s Workshop With His Magic Hammer, Bang, Bang, Bang.”

Similar to The Chorus of the Anvils maybe?

Mr Thompson got a lot of charm out of Petey and his oboe, but it has always seemed to me that, given Peteys, um, crotchets, the oboe is just about the last instrument you’d think he would tolerate.

Someone should take a hammer to that oboe.

Preferably use it on the oboe.

It’s good to see that Petey’s oboe artistry (well, sorta) finds an appreciative audience in Alice and Polyfill!
