Neither of these gives me a feeling of closure in this case. I’m feeling very unsettled.

The epilogue is an important literary tool that acts as the afterword once the last chapter is over. The purpose of an epilogue is to add a little insight to some interesting developments that happen once the major plot is over. Epilogues often act as a teaser trailer to any possible sequels that might be created later.
Actually, this entire arc could have happened in St. Paul some years ago… The city is built on limestone and is right next to the Mississippi. There’s a series of caves still running under the city. One of the tunnels had come up under the old Orpheum theater, opening into the janitor’s closet in the women’s toilet room in the basement. I used to work as a part-time janitor/set-up guy (setting up skids and chairs over the ice rink in preparation for rock concerts in the evening) when I was still in high school, and we’d occasionally get younger kids coming up into the theater-Civic Center complex from one of the hotels or apartments some blocks away in the downtown area. Can’t do that anymore, of course, because the city ripped out an almost 1-mile square area to put in the current convention center.
But, for the era Crabgrass is set in, Mascotopia could have been real…

His mascot head looks like a cross between Homer Simpson and Bert (of Ernie). Brilliant epilogue.

Maybe it wasn’t all a dream. I’m still confused about the mascotopia part being in a supply closet and going back in and just nothing being there.
