@chks: Speaking only for myself .. I’m fond of both versions of this strip.
I started reading HotC in 2001, and I enjoy it now as much as ever.
I find Steenz’ unique take on these characters (not to mention the many new ones!) much more interesting than if some other artist had been tapped to draw in an imitation of Tatulli’s style, and instructed to stay strictly within the bounds of gags and situations he might’ve done .. as so many other legacy strips have — only to gradually go stale — over the decades.
As said, I liked the original version, too.
There’s been 100+ different takes on Batman, over the years. I can easily reconcile (and enjoy!) 2 different takes on Heart of the City. :-)
Hmm, I’ve liked Steenz’ style right from the beginning and was very appreciative of the new characters and storylines they introduced. But I’m sad that it kind of looks like Heart is getting sidelined from her own friend group. Dean and Heart used to be thick as thieves, now they are doing barely anything together. Dean is either with Brent or apparently his new BFF Charlotte. Kat is also not vibing with Heart anymore but instead apparently now discovering her new BFF Brent or mooning over Lee. So who’s left for Heart?

If Dean said what Charlotte did, instead, it would be the Catwoman to Dean’s Batman.

So Heart isn’t his best friend?

How about Wonder Girl to her Wonder Woman? It doesn’t always have to be about B&R.
