I hope Hobbes puts the scarf back in the drawer when he gets home.

I tried to build a humongous snowperson the one time we got enough good packable snow. But ended up having to make one that was lying down because there was no WAY I could lift the middle one onto the bottom one.

What will Mom and Dad say when Hobbes returns home without Calvin? Will Calvin free himself from the snowman’s toe? What life lessons will Calvin learn from this experience? I eagerly await the sequel.

There’s one episode where Calvin built a conventional snowman and said, “This is a daring, subversive work of modern art…. It’s secretly ironic!”

The scarf isn’t stupid; Dad is!

BTW, I prefer Calvin’s snow monsters; I hope to see a few this winter.

When I was a kid the backyards were up a hill for us and several neighbors. After a big snowstorm, me and my brother went out and saw neighbor kids next door making a giant snowball in our next door neighbor’s backyard. My brother said let’s go help. I surveyed the situation and said no no no!! Well the ball got to about 15’ and they lost control and it rolled down the hill towards the HOUSE!!! Best decision I ever made!! Anyway, for some reason the ball went left and hit a metal shed and split in half. One half kept going till it hit the middle of the road!! Luckily no cars hit! LOL! It was fun to watch someone else get into big trouble instead of us for a change. I still marvel at the fact the ball changed direction to miss the house.

Only remember one time when I was 14 getting that perfect deep wet snow. Best friend and I pushed the snow ball downhill until it was way taller then us. Had to leave it there because we knew we could never lift ones to put on top.

Lesson learned. If you’re going to commit to the work, make sure you know what the job is.

Oh, so it’s going to be a realistic-looking humanoid snowman and not a traditional one?

Can you even make a snowman as big as the one Calvin thought of either in the North Pole or in Antarctica?

    I love Watterson’s grumpy-furious thought “balloons”.

I just want to state again that it should be sometime in February that the sabbatical reruns end. So we’ll be getting the “new” strips pretty soon.
