I’m at mom’s for the holidays. She’s 88, completely deaf in one ear, & has partial hearing loss in the other. After the first evening gritting my teeth at the loudness of her TV & being left with a headache & my ears ringing, I ordered earplugs online. Thanks, Amazon!
I work retail, and several years ago, I invented a device for the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas: inconspicuous earbuds that would filter out the obnoxious, repetitive Christmas music but allow me to hear customers and coworkers just fine.

Sadly, I no longer need the earplugs.

Hey, I like that Andy Williams (1927-2012; would’ve been 94 on 3 December) song too!

At the school Christmas program, when we sang, they told me to stand behind the piano and just move my mouth.

When I was in the military my friend and I were singing in a bar and the bartender gave us a free beer to keep quiet, true story!

But with your memory, Earl, how do you know when to take the earplugs out?
jr1234 about 3 years ago
Saying on news, because of the fast spreading of omicron, NOT to gather for Christmas and NOT break out in song.

My grandmother used to hum and sing as she went thru her day. I miss it.
