I was talking on the phone with someone, telling her what I had done with another friend. That friend had the same name as me and I couldn’t remember her name. True story.

This is how David Ortiz came to be known as “Big Papi.” He couldn’t remember any of his teammates names, so he called them all “Papi.” They, in turn, christened him Big Papi.

There are different degrees of “terrible with names”. I’ve been known to draw a blank on my brother’s name, but not yet on my own.
