Actually, yes he would. Woman, if you value your ankles, you’d better find some real food, quick!

After all this unhappiness about changing foods I have a question: Have they even tried it? Or does it look and smell too different they just know they won’t like it without trying it? Like the way I feel about oysters and snails?

Going through the same thing with ‘I don’t like the new food and refuse to eat it’ by one and the other eats his kitten as well as the adult new food.

And it has been a consistent hard “no” to the goat meat. Starvation was preferred. So now we have shifted to Ziwipeak Venison, from an imaginary land. That has been accepted. No improvement to our finances, though. The goat was not sheep, and the venison is deer.

Years ago, vets discouraged changing up kitty’s food. A few commenters here have mentioned deliberately varying the food they feed their cats so there’s not a dependence on one type/brand. Hubby and I would be very leery about messing with the food that works: Our Speaker to Animals wanted to be an only cat, but was adopted third. She bulked up in hopes that being biggest would get her the top cat position. When K’zin and Chuft-Captain passed, she put herself on a diet and developed fatty liver syndrome! We took her to a specialty vet who installed a stomach feeding tube (through her side). It was a LOONNGG six–eight weeks of tube-feeding slushy food multiple times a day to save her life.

Quiet now! The “boss” is speaking!

In news cats’ life tension was running high

    About the new food

’T was a lot of no good

What caused the bad, rude mood

There was nothing you could do

Two cats at the bowl full of nosh that smells foul

Oh, this new feed that was no fun

Words were cussed in an outburst vast

    Troubled times had come

    To thy home now

    (Bruce Springsteen “My Hometown”)

We just learned that our Athena, who has diabetes is also losing kidney function. She is not happy with food as we try to find a balance between two opposite diets. I sympathize with the boys…cats do not like change.

Back when my old calico was going through issues and wasn’t eating and I was trying to figure it out, I went through a bunch of food and got really bananas over ingredients so I understand. I was so sad because I just wanted them to feel better but if it was me I also would have been not happy. :(

What we have done for about 20 years is mix in the new food with the old food a little bit at a time. It might sound strange, but we would mix new dry into old wet or new wet into old dry for a few days and then move back to separate dishes for the wet and dry. And don’t forget to use plates because the sides of bowls will touch the cats’ whiskers and they don’t like that. (That’s why you often see just the center of the food eaten out and the sides of the bowl untouched.)

I didn’t read many comments over the weekend so not sure if the new January calendar page has already been mentioned, but I love the picture of Tommy, Beatrix, Homestyle, and Thimblefist having a snowball fight.

Also if anyone wasn’t sure about getting the calendar, but still might want one Zazzle has calendars at 50% right now.

I understand the value of healthy eating, but I suspect that there are those who would like to see us all live to the age of 200 via eating nothing but dirt and twigs. We have taste buds for a reason!

Michael Masser and Gerry Goffin performed by Diana Ross: Do You Know?

Do you know what you’re feeding us?

Do you realize we don’t care if it’s good for us?

    We’re gonna raise a fuss?

    Do you know?

    …….

Do you get what we’re hoping for?

Some ham or bacon we would like some more

    That’s what we’re hoping for

    Do you know?

    …….

Once we ate kibble and Spaghetti-O’s

We were so happy, we felt the love, you know

Now there’s this new stuff that is yucky as can be,

We just don’t feel the love that we are hoping to see!

    …….

Do you know what you’re feeding us?

Do you realize we don’t care if it’s good for us?

    We’re gonna raise a fuss?

    Do you know?

    …….

    Just listen to Puck cuss,

He’s speaking for each one of us!

Where’s the kibble and the stuff we once ate,

Prepare for your shoes to meet a sad fate!

    …….

Do you know what you’re feeding us?

Do you realize we don’t care if it’s good for us?

    We’re gonna raise a fuss?

    Do you know?

After a record breaking high of 78° Saturday, we had our first snow of the winter last night. Only a couple of inches at Partner’s house, don’t know about mine yet. But tonight’s forecast low is 16°. Ugh. A night for hot cocoa and a “cat blanket”.

Many many MANY moons ago, when the ex and I were first dating, she had a 25 pound Siamese.

One day, I found this critter wrapped around my leg nipping my ankle.

    “What the heck?”

“Oh he’s just letting you know he’s hungry.”

Mr Kitty was starving to death when my golden retriever rescued him. I think that’s why he was never really fussy about brands, but he did have preferences which I tried to follow. He was a very grateful kitty and thanked me for his food. He would be shocked by these spoiled brats behavior.

No wait, their not eating at all. So their own good must mean a sooner death. In which case, may I join Elvis in removing your ankles?

The way to introduce new food (especially when used to something specific for a long time) is to slowly add the new to the old until eventually it is all just new! :-) Rarely does plopping down just the new work — especially for kitties!
