I’ve done everything except skydiving and I’m still alive. Don’t know why, and a few times I’ve wondered how some of the things I’ve done haven’t killed me,. Just a minor example but i was driving down the road one day as a teenager in an “alleged” car.. (late 1980’s and the car was a ‘71) when the gas tank fell off the car. Obviously car stopped immediately, but no spark or explosion despite the leaking gas. Another time, same car, drove into a garage to get some repair work done. This garage had a pit in the floor, I think it was for working on big trucks that couldn’t go on a hoist and I drove over top of the pit without realizing it. Just barely kept my tires enough on the ground that my car didn’t drop into the pit, an inch or two further over and “bye-bye”. Lots of other things that should have killed me before and after those little life incidents too.
Trout and her mom have apparently had some interesting conversations, but at the end of it all her mom appears to be of the “some things you have to learn for yourself” school of thought.
Oh, and it should be “running,” not “run,” but at least a minor grammar error isn’t life-threatening.

Remember, if you’re skydiving and the parachute fails, you have the rest of your life to plan your next move.

if you smoke while skydiving with scissors your life might be somewhat shorter than anticipated…

Smoking: never do that. Skydiving: give it a try. Running with scissors: not in school, please
