Women’s ice skating is one of the very few sports worth watching. For the artistic values, of course.

I haven’t been paying attention to the Olympics. What’s the latest dope on figure skating?

I worry about the mental health of women figure skaters, especially the teens. They cry at the end of a performance, when the score is announced, when being interviewed. What kind of pressure are they under, especially the girls? And they are mostly girls. They are given stuffed toys for comfort. When they are no longer valuable they are cast aside. Contrast that with women snowboarders and other sports. It’s “yay, I won” or “darn I lost”, then move on.

They need a minimum age to compete. I would say 19 in the year of the Olympics would be a good start. And I’m sure no nation would forge documents falsifying age.

As a figure skater, I whole-heartedly agree. In fact, I’m writing this from my hotel where I am competing in a local competition this weekend. Not exactly the Olympics, but hey, we adults have a great time and get to wear amazing costumes! (It’s all about the bling). LOL

It’s unfortunate that politics invades the judging, it’s not done just on merit.

Don’t like gymnastics. Don’t like ballet. Don’t like figure skating. Give me a real sport. Like curling.

“It’s like Gymnastics and Ballet combined on ice skates” This is why I hate figure skating.

Husbands: I once heard a woman on a radio program state that, whenever her husband watched figure skating with her while he massaged her feet, he was guaranteed “an evening of great nookie.”

We ditched cable tv after the 2016 election, not that there’s any correlation but it was a lucky coincidence.

But the downside to cord cutting is that it makes it difficult to follow figure skating, which for my wife is the top sport to watch. Oh, you can get the Olympics on a temporary basis by subscribing to an app for a month, but the other competitions are hard to locate. Some are on the remnants of free tv, but finding the rest is a matter of either accident, or some serious searching on the internet.

The commentary on the Olympic ice skating is inane. Obviously, these people know their stuff, but somehow television brings out the blather.

First time that we have NOT watched the Olympics. The IOC, NBC, and most corporations have sold their souls to Red China for the almighty dollar. Feels more and like we are back in 1936 and steadily marching to our destruction.

And of course one of the Russian skaters tested positive for illegal drugs but the IOC allowed her to continue

Mama and I loved watching the skating together :) Apparently they once took me to see a live show, which I wish I could remember! And Daddy would leave the room as I got older, Mama and I would yell at the judges.. LOL!

All it takes to make a “sport” is two or three childish minds to call it one. Like hitting a ball with a stick or throwing it through a hoop.
