You get to school to get a job. If you don’t choose well, each phase will be misery. Oh what the heck. Doesn’t matter what kind of job you get. Someone is going to want to make you miserable!
Don’t forget the price of gasoline, empty grocery and pharmacy shelves, rampant crime, inflation in one form or another, a horrifying war in the Ukraine, pandemics, rewritten history, etc.
I have had this comic at work for years!!! I never got married so I never had children (I am one of those people who believe in marriage) but I can understand. Oh what fun it would have been.
Ya know, I’m actually having a pretty good morning, and not even Dad’s cynical comments (and Calvin’s predictable yet understandable response) will bring me down…
The price of a high standard of living is often preferable to the price of a low standard of living. Either way, you have to work. It just depends on how immediate your needs are. The alternative to both is not living.
Ha! Ha! What a lie! One of the greatest perks of adulthood is, if you find the right job, it’s only 8 hours a day with NO HOMEWORK. Even with a 40-hour job, I’m working LESS THAN HALF as long as I did in school. And I get paid for it too! I wouldn’t want to be a school kid again for ANYTHING.
So Ukraine is a country. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So basically that’s wrong. And it goes against everything that we stand for
A few weeks ago he was yelling at Calvin for bad grades. Now he is making snarky, sarcastic remarks about school? Sounds like Dad needs a long talk with the man in the mirror before he worries about Calvin’s problems.

At least when you work, you get paid. I can’t think of a single thing that makes school worth it.

Calvin could get a dangerous job. He’s already a stuntman, crash test dummy and vocabulary teacher. Teaching kids can be dangerous.

Anyone wanna bet that if the situations WERE reversed, Dad would be whining about having to go to school??

I wish there was online schooling in the ’50’s and ’60’s when I was a student.
Imagine: no bitchy teachers, no bullying classmates…

Well, you may have to go to school and you may have to go to work – but at least you don’t have to have a kid, whether they’re whiny or not.
I bet Dad’s not going to be the one to tell Calvin that, though. He probably doesn’t like being reminded he wanted a dachshund instead.
