Looked out the window this afternoon and a Great Blue Heron was just standing about 10 feet away! He stood there foe about a half hour. No idea why… boy they are big!
I remember this one. I love how sweet Annie is, taking care of that worm, even if she did put it on the wrong side of the sidewalk. At least it didn’t get stepped on!
We’re supposed to be getting some ice/freezing rain/sleet overnight and into this afternoon. There’s a weather advisory going until 6 PM today. If we have ice, I won’t be going to work. When we call in, we have a list of options why we are calling in (weather, illness, jury duty, COVID and a bunch of others). I might even choose the “sick” option rather than the weather one. I have 176 hours of saved up sick hours and I’d like an excuse to use a few of those hours. So, even if it isn’t super bad out, if it is slippery out, I don’t plan on going to work. They’ve already cancelled school in a LOT of districts, including my local district. Sounds like a good excuse not to go to work!
And here is a funny thing I found on my local Facebook site tonight. It was 100 years ago, to the day when we had an ice storm here. Here is what was posted. I hope you can read it.
Behind an apartment complex where i have twi of my clients there is a wild hillside that must have gobs if newts on it because every time it rains at night the newts come down off the hillside.
No worms have a chance in heck of getting past them.
That huge storm everyone is talking about? HAH! Yesterday it was nice and sunny out when we left the house around 9.Went to the quilt shop and came out about 11:00. It was overcast and windy, that was all. Went to lunch. Still windy but sure as check not even chilly. The wind died down about 9PM and that was it. This morning, no wind, no dark skies, nothing. Meteorologists are overpaid. In what other job could you be so wrong so often and still get paid?
At least Annie meant well. It’s good to be kind. I’ve move caterpillars I’ve found in the road. On another note, saw two finches and three varied thrushes while out walking today.

I’ve always suspected tortoises are cursing me for that very reason when I carry them out of the road.

Oliver already understands kindness, but Chesney wouldn’t be out walking in the rain.

I scoop them up and then use them as fishing bait. However, I don’t fish. Hmmmmm.

Baring disaster, today is the first day of a two day weekend. The first in a long time. And, hopefully, a regular thing now.
