If Opal has any redeeming qualities, we never hear about them

well, at least Earl’s noggin will be partially warmed with a doily thereon

My wife and I sit watching watching. She covers her lap with an afghan I crocheted and I cover my lap with one she made. That’s the last one I ever made. She’s made about a thousand since.

I thought that was “yarmulke”.

Didn’t help.

With the gauges, tongue plugs and nose rings, doilies could catch on!

It takes skill to crochet the rest is just punching holes in various parts of the body and adding jewelry, like a Prince Albert.

Tried to learn to crochet as a teenager. My attempted square turned into a trapezoid.

Sorry Opal, he doesn’t look any nicer, if you ask me. I know, I know, you didn’t ask… :D

Now Earl has a “rug” !

You can place a doily wherever you have a little space (like on a shelf)

or even a lot of space (Earl’s head).

What’s a doily?

Doilies make great Elbow pads on coats ;-)

I crotched a sweater once…. raised double trebles.

That’s going to be one oily doily!

Now…. who coulda’ seen THAT coming..??

She can start calling the doilies a yarmulke. She can make thousands.

My grandmother was a sweet lady who loved to crochet. Once I gave her 200 pounds of steel wool and she knitted me a stove.

ROFLMAO! Opal is so vengeful…and it’s not good to teach Nelson these things……LOL. LOL.

On the head, they become a yarmulke.

I think I used to tat things like that, not crochet.

Doilies were the original “coaster” in the days when furniture finishes were much more easily damaged.

Fun at Earl’s expense!

Besides, small doilies are fun to crochet…being round, and if you are mathematically inclined, you do realize that each succeeding round just takes longer and longer and LONGER to do. Whew! I love to find very, very old patterns for place settings and make complicated little doilies meant to go under the diner’s drinking utensil, whether it be an iced tea glass or a wine glass. They’re small, decorative, and don’t take hours and hours and HOURS to make!

If you look up “crocheted rocks” you’ll see pretty doily patterns used to crochet in the round around smooth beach rocks, which are also quite pretty. =^_____^=

I’ve done a few of both of those kinds.

Darned things kept slipping off during my boyhood days in the 40s and 50s.

Earl is just holding them for her until she finds a table.

And we have a MIRACLE!!

Now that is funny, until Earl wakes up.
