I wonder if ‘god’ gets knocked into the tower of souls, if it will sunder him and split his bits among all the realities, negating his power by spreading it so thin.

So this ‘god’, HAS been in Wally for most of the ride? Have the dittos been keeping him at bay? Are the dittos actually controlling Wally at this point? So many questions left to answer, and so much time in between strips! The anticipation is agonizing!!

This is what happens when you let strange telephone callers prey on your brain. Remember children, don’t talk to strangers. Just hang up on them.

I hope that’s a “free at last” grin on Wally’s face, and not one of corrupted possession.

Well…crap. Maybe it was inside Wally all along. It would explain how Wally was able to “wander around” on the surface for years before he was bought into Endtown. Maybe he didn’t wander around for years but appeared near Endtown land to kill the last remaining living reality surrounded by all the dead ones. The Topsiders had prevented it by doing their Eden experiment. How’s that for a weirdo guess?

Oh dear. Wally has gone Schism. That didn’t work out too well for Jim either.

I don’t think Ted has been in Wally this whole time, but he’s been where he’s always been: Everywhere. Schism happens when the anthro suffers a mental break in the inter-dimensional link that made them anthros to begin with (afaik) that lets Ted take over. That was what happened to Jim, and I think the reality (and hopelessness) of their situation caused a similar break in Wally.

    So….now what?

TED-possessed Jim, in his last moments before he ‘flamed out’ showed that he still retained scraps of his own personality. https://www.gocomics.com/endtown/2015/05/18Rest assured ‘my wayward children’, Wally’s personality is still inside the possessed cat.

The I/eye has left Wally. is there only Wally left, or is that something else inside of him that we see in his eyes? Maybe what kept Wally from succumbing to I/eye while it was in him? Something Jim didn’t have?

If that is true, maybe it will leave Wally also, and now aided by the energy of the fountain, will finally be able to defeat I/eye.

Well, I hope Mr. Neathery is just showing us that Wally has “cat’s eyes” Which is to say, retroreflectors, that reflect light back toward the source. Not that he has ever done that before, but the lighting here is a bit unique.

I tend to believe that Wally is no longer possessed, despite looking a bit like Jim just now. That was, after all, quite the hairball that he coughed up. Bound to leave a bad taste in his mouth.

    Weapons check:

    Alan: nothing

Duffy: Amulet and probably a zero gun

Terence: nothing unless he got the zero gun back.

Wally: hmm I think he has lost most of the good stuff that was in his pouch and the dittos are useless against the Eye.

Marx: who knows, but he seems very much unworried

Thought I’d do a version of “Mad Wally” for my avatar (thanks to Hero Forge). The cheerful little kobold will return at a later date.

If I recall correctly, didn’t Wally answer a phone in a dream that had the earpiece bite the side of his head? He had a recurring theme in his dreams of trying to escape this being in its various guises as well as meeting Aaron Marx in his varied avatars. One thing for certain, this story arc isn’t over, and we’d better buckle ourselves in for another wild ride.

So once again, I copied the image and used Preview on my mac to look it over with exposure maxed.

Once again, kudos to Neathery’s talent! While it appears in the first frame that only Marx, Duffy, and a prone Wally are visible, it turns out that Terence is a dark outline between Not-a-God’s feet, and Alan is a someone darker figure close to Marx. That’s real attention to detail by Neathery!

(OT) Brought back the smiling kobold! I did a little re-arranging on him, so his appearance has changed. As much as I liked my version of ‘Mad Wally’, I figured it was time to retire him. I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that though ‘Ted’ has possessed Wally, Wally will have a vestige of his own personality, and manage to resist the mad being’s commands (but not without great difficulty). Wally has been through a lot with copious side orders of death and mayhem, so he’ll be of tougher stuff and won’t be so easy to manipulate, but this is Aaron Neathery’s story arc and I’ll expect anything from him. “Endtown” is one of the most brilliant comic strips I’ve read on the GoComics website, a close second being the [now] defunct “Lost Tales of Suburbia”.

Odd, the ‘Ted’ character reminds me a little of Flim, the main villain from “Lost Tales of Suburbia”, who happened to be an immaterial spirit that was forced to take a physical form towards the end of the strip’s story arc. Like ‘Ted’, Flim was always in the background doing his dirty work through various legendary monsters as ‘Ted’ would work through mutants that suffered from the “schism” syndrome. There’s also the climactic show-down where both villains met their ends, Flim from a couple of children & [the upcoming end of] ‘Ted’ from Aaron Marx, Alan, Dusty, and Terence.
