where I live, we would call each other (specially guys) with titles like dude, man and such (equivalents to those of course) aaaaaand yup, lot of times I wouldn’t remember the names and such calling names are a saver !!
I am not good at remembering names. It is why I like the Japanese introducing themselves with a business card. You note something on the back to remind you. I do try. To be honest Huda should not be that hard. Something I like to do is google the name. I find out how to pronounce it. also what country and cultural origin. Always interesting to find out. And This old guy may learn something.
Honestly, I find the unusual names easier to recall. When someone has a common name, I think “Jane? No, it couldn’t be that easy.” I met Esmeralda and her husband Tom. Guess whose name I forgot? Yep. Tom’s.
In real life, I have memory-related issues due to head trauma. Part of this is that I will almost immediately forget new names unless I either write them down or have some reason to link the name and the face. I’ve had to do a lot of apologizing on the social level for this.

Well, you might say that to Huda, ‘Jane Smith’ is foreign.
