This is a cute reversal of the usual way of things on a farm, where the animals start the farmer with their hungry sounds.
I worked on a tobacco farm for two summers as a teenager. If I am never awakened by the sound of a tractor engine at 5:00 a.m., it will be decades too soon. The farmer would drive over in the tractor to wake me up, then go back into the warm house and have coffee. My first job of the day was to wake everyone else up. You can only imagine how popular I was.
Those two summers gave me a great respect for the arduous world of the manual laborer and gave me a great hankering to get educated enough to have an indoor job. :) :) :)
