I love Georgia’s comment in her siggy line. Is the “Whew” for the cats who got away with it, or because this arc has been like a triathlon for her! Party, wrestling match, cleanup up!

O.T. - Well, today Paul McCartney’s question: “Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I’m 64?” is finally relevant to me. I can’t believe how fast this last decade has gone by. Where the heck did the time go????

I like the kids confusion. ‘The house is a bit messy and it wasn’t us?’

Now we just have to hope no one starts to wonder where the gray cat fur came from.

I wonder if there will be more clues that something was amiss while they were away? Is some cat still sound asleep in the house somewhere? Did one of the cats leave a coat? Didn’t they seal off the dumbwaiter that Figaro and Tabitha arrived on after Puck’s last adventure? When will they notice Lupin’s bell has gone missing? (And will he get a new one to Elvis’ horror???) What about the bag of Kitty Yum Yums that Tabitha was holding? How bad will Tortimer’s “hangover” be?

What will the people think when they find all the kibble Tortimer horked in the trash? Kind of a spooky puzzle.

Not as subtle as they thought, it seems. Lupin does indeed look thrilled they are back, and we haven’t even seen Elvis. I do like the Woman’s view of things. I’m sure when I come home and the guinea pigs have knocked over the food bowl, it’s because they missed me. Right?

Thomios: Time to get the Running of the Cat snacks together. Sue, do you mind getting a cheese wheel from the pantry?

Sue Chef: I didn’t think we had any cheese wheels.

Thomios: I have a feeling there’s one there now.

Sue: Here it is. All set for the honey and cheese charcuterie tray. Here comes one of the worker muses now.

Enter Melpomene

Thomios: Hey there, Mel. What sweet goodness do you have in store?

Mel: Diana and Bea are bringing my best lavender honey. They’ll be here in a trice.

Thomios: Wonderful! Your lavender honey is a real dilly!

Mel: I may be the Bee of Tragedy, but I can’t help smiling when I’m here.

Typical cat owner, rationalizing any behavior. (Also true of any mom)

I am glad to see the woman can still smile about everything.

When the cat’s away, the mice will play.

When the people are away, the cats will play.

…if that helps you sleep at night.

As I suspected, the cleanup had some rough edges.

Off-topic: Tank the orange tabby is now permanently back with his owners. He was pining away in quarantine at the shelter. The shelter helped his owners make arrangements so that Tank could legally stay with them. They tell me he perked right up when he got home. I have not seen him in a couple of weeks. My guess is that he now has a cat flap and doesn’t need to come three blocks back to the old neighborhood for those three or four extra snacks he so vitally needs. I miss him but I am happy for him. All he wanted was to be with his people.

Hummingbirds are back. I got buzzed this morning. Filled two feeders, will fill more when the girls arrive. Happy Spring.

Boy, that was a close one.

PSA…release date for Pucky, Prince of Bacon. I just got an email from Amazon that my pre-order will not ship until October 18. I don’t remember the original date, but it was Fall so not too big a delay so far.
