Jon shows the side of man’s preferences. I’ve built my own headboard for my current bed twice, both times with a simple sheet of plywood. All I need is something to keep the pillow on the bed. If it’s functional, it’s good.
Exactly! Man: It’s comfortable. Woman: Does it match the drapes? The paint on the walls? Is it karmically compatible? Is it better than the bed that bitch next door bought? Does it come in pink?
Yeah. I mean really, all it has to do is be comfortable and not move out from under me unexpectedly. Now if we were talking about a car, then we’d have a conversation, but this is just a place to sleep, snore and drool.
I like the style. I think you have the option of removing the decorative footboard piece. In many cases, you can use the shorter footboard piece as your headboard if you want a lower style one. So says a person who doesn’t use a headboard at all : )
I’m sure that when my parents went shopping for their bedroom set, my father was just as interested as my mother was in the aesthetics of the furniture. He had a good eye for beauty – after all, he did pick my mother to be his lovely bride!
Saw a TikTok the other day that listed all the things a man needs to do to keep his woman. For a woman to keep a man all she has to do is show up naked and bring food. Think that fits here
Got a Scandinavian modern bedroom set, solid walnut, with a bookcase headboard 64 years ago. It still looks great and has held up well, dresser drawers still slide correctly. Love the bookcase headboard. A lamp my husband made in 8th grade I.A. shop sits on it and my phone and our eyeglasses are right there at night.
Somewhat related: Hubby and I had a queen-sized bed, and all was well until we got a miniature dachshund puppy. (AMAZING how much of a bed a small dog can take up!) The first night, I ended up with only half of the top sheet. Hubby explained that he needed the rest to keep the dog covered! No, this story doesn’t end with a homicide, lol. The next day, he proudly presented something I hadn’t even thought of – a king-sized top sheet. Worked like a charm, and neither hubby nor puppy ever had to spend a night in the “doghouse”.

According to poor John, a bed is a bed is a bed……it doesn’t matter as long as it has a mattress, a box spring, and a frame.

John has the attitude most men have; utilitarian. Who needs an expensive bedroom suite?

Do people really say bedroom suite? I’ve never used that expression in my life. I tend to say/hear bedroom set. Hmm. Maybe it’s a Canadian thing?
