We had high high high winds today, got a Nat Weather Service alert on my phone about a dust storm..I believe it, you should see my dining room table. House is a sieve. Winds tomorrow and Tuesday too, non-stop sneezing for me, even with a Loratidine.
NATIONAL MOSCATO DAY. On May 9th, raise your glass and toast National Moscato Day. Moscato, or Muscat in Italian, is one of the oldest known varieties of grapes grown in the world. The Moscato grape ranges in color from white to almost black. Its flavor varies, too, from sweet to dry. Winemakers use this quite versatile grape to make everything from sparkling and dessert wines to dry and floral wines. Where one Moscato may pair well with a steak, another will go well with fresh fruit and a sharp cheese plate. In February of 2012, it was reported that Moscato wine became the third most popular white wine consumed within the United States. Not a day for me because I don’t drink alcohol of any type.
NATIONAL BUTTERSCOTCH BROWNIE DAY. Butterscotch brownies are pretty good, but I’ll pick chocolate brownie over butterscotch every time!
NATIONAL WOMEN’S CHECKUP DAY
With any luck weather-wise (they are predicting a nice day), it will be a gardening day for me. My potatoes are planted, but today I want to plant green beans. And marigolds, too.
I got some good news yesterday. My niece, Amy had a baby girl on Friday! Just in time so she could celebrate her very first Mother’s Day as a mom and not just as a daughter. They named the baby Lila Corine (not sure if I spelled that right).
And, in response to comments yesterday from people missing their moms, I miss mine, too. She left us in May of 2004, right around Memorial Day. I miss her most around Mother’s Day when I see other people in Walmart buying cards, flowers and plants for their moms. Sometimes, it makes me feel very left out.
After this debacle, can we assume they moved their meetings to the top floor board room? I gave cake and sweet peas with other flowers from my garden to 2 of my neighbors who are mothers. In turn, they gave me $74 for my birthday (Saturday) and took me to the local casino, I came back with $200! Friday night (Craig’s birthday) the dogs and I stayed at the Woodfords Inn on the Carson Pass where we often went our birthdays and a couple there remembered us – her husband had talked about fishing with Craig. Bittersweet, so nice that he was remembered but they were sad when they learned he was gone.
Well happy Monday…Craig’s little jack Russell got skunked on our walk at 7am. 6 baths later with skunk odor remover and hydrogen peroxide/baking soda/palmolive mixture there is still some odor. He’s laying in the sun now, I smell of skunk but am going for a bike ride before the wind picks up again. This is the 3rd incident in the same area, perhaps now I will remember to leash them in this section!

When it’s time to escape, the cats will probably be napping and forget all about their escape plans.

Annie certainly is helpful. So much for escape plan. On another note, saw five robins, four geese, and a chickadee while out walking today.
