PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you are going write about the Word of the Day in Wordle, please put it in a reply to an OT: Wordle comment. Some of us wait until lunchtime to do Wordle and don’t want the answer to be revealed to us.
Funny, my bet was that Puck would look at recipes and probably find the internet’s deep well of bacon jokes, Lupin would take videos of himself doing ridiculous stuff, and I thought Goldie would be the gamer (and subsequently drag Lupin in). Also, stick to BCN for news apps!
I just use my cell phone generally only for travel, with not much of that lately with the pandemic. The rest of the time, I have a landline that I ignore.
I was so embarrassed last week. I was in the dentist’s office and they asked me to email them a copy of the referral, using my cell phone, which I had brought just in case. I had never sent an email on any cell phone. I prepared the email okay, but I couldn’t find a Send icon. They had to help me. I know they had a laugh when I left, the “hopeless old lady.”
Also, I have never sent a text message.
I was a professional computer geek, that’s how I made my living, so I am okay with technology (I’ve set up email servers at work), but cell phones are just too small and loud and intimidating and I don’t like them. I want a keyboard.
When Wordle was just becoming a thing, one of my kids posted a screenshot of the puzzle after solving it to brag about their score. Yes, a screenshot showing the word for that day.
Everyone promptly let my kid know that everybody has the same word to solve every day – so that the kid wouldn’t spoil the answer for everyone else ever again!

Puck is the first to find games. Lupin will either be the first to lose his, or the first to find the Tik Tok challenges and get into trouble.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Puckmosis: Here’s the Daily Scroll’s “Glyphle” game. Can you guess the five-hieroglyph word in six tries?
Elvis-Anum: I’ll start with Stele, an upright slab of stone with inscriptions that served as a monument.
Puckmosis: Bea, do you have the key with you?
Beatrixia: Right here. Elvis, you have four letters correct, with the “S” being in the right position.
Elvis-Anum: Then it must be Senet*, our favorite board game.
Puckmosis: Oh, haven’t played that in awhile.
Beatrixia: Maybe the Senior Bridge Team would be interested in having a tournament.
Elvis-Anum: But there must be plenty of refreshments. Will Thomios have enough.
Sound of giggling in the background
Puckmosis: Somehow I think so.
*For a description, go to discoveringegypt.com/ancient-egyptian-game-senet/.

Given the number of old, unused phones currently found in desk drawers and boxes, I have no doubt that Beatrix could outfit the entire CN team…

When there’s one letter left I’ll do a brute force search. If I’m lucky it’s only vowels. Sometimes it’s easier not to think.
