Ever wonder why they don’t have school shootings in major cities? Well, it’s simple: schools are built so that student can’t bring in guns, and to keep out people who have no business being there. Imagine that. Schools that actually keep bad people out….

The Republican Party set off on this road 30 odd years ago with their wedge issues strategy. Guns, god, gays and abortion. Divide people on emotional levels and pander to single issue voters. Just to get a few more percentage points to be competitive in elections. Now what was once a political party with at least some principles has devolved into a hypocritical, unethical morass. They cannot win without the votes of the zealots so they are now ruled by them. Until some substantial portion of principled and, god forbid, moderate Republicans stop voting for them this will end badly. More badly than it already is…. Please people, stop being loyal to self-serving politicians who know they can count on your party loyalty and use your loyalty to do whatever they like. The letter you put after your name is by choice, and it’s your choice. No excuses.

Did you hear that one clown say that the solution for school shootings is to boobytrap schools. Like, yeah…that would work. Don’t see anything going wrong with that idea. [eye roll]

Thoughts and prayers. My thought is that pro-gun governor is responsible for this, and my prayer is that he will be voted out of office.

I’m starting to believe there’s a much darker thing going on here that I previously was missing… I used to think that conservative politicians were against gun control simply to procure votes from their base and to maintain NRA backing, but I’m starting to suspect that many of them truly believe that the rightful ownership of guns, from BB to bazooka, is essential to the constitutional definition of America, regardless of the concomitant death and destruction. They don’t see this country as being an idea, but rather a gun. My father has always told me that a conservative is a person that’s against government assistance until he needs some. Right, the insane ultra-availability of guns in American has never intruded on the privileged, insulated world in which Ted Cruz lives. So why would he even for one second consider the necessity of sensible gun controls laws?

When it comes to forwarding the Trumplican Right and NRA’s political agenda, as well as increasing the profits of the Arms & Munitions Manufacturers … the the loss of a few school children ( preferable non-white ) is merely collateral damage and easily assuaged with a few meaningless expressions of thoughts and prayers.

In one panel Bolling has basically concisely displayed Conservatives entire list of excuses/rationalizations/deflections re school shootings. And well as all their other pressing societal concerns. Depressing but true.

This is so true it breaks my heart. I’m a teacher. NONE of us, kids or adults, should ever be an acceptable loss.

So, when guns have become sacred objects to some, does that mean that the right to free-carry attack rifles is supported by both the second AND first amendments?
