Yep. What once was CFI Steel in Pueblo, CO. Early 70’s the smog was so heavy you couldn’t see 100 ft. They did do a marvelous job of correcting the issue however.
On the 1960 double-LP How the West Was Won, Bing Crosby recreates part of a supposed 19-century lecture on the “Pewtrified” Forest, explaining that not only have all the trees in that region turned to solid stone, so have all the birds — but they nonetheless continue to soar among the treetops, given that even the law of gravitation in that locality is “all pewtrified.”
