It means that he’s destined to get in a lot of trouble. In other words, a typical summer ahead for Calvin.

That looming feeling

Based on my reading of Greek mythology; if you get an omen, no matter what you do, it will be the wrong choice.

All  auguries are inscrutable. Foreseeing the future by looking at clouds isn’t a thing, so far as I know, but if it were, it would be “nubemancy” or some such.

It’s like obeying a god who doesn’t say anything.

Sometimes i think God is just a petulant child.

Oh, it’s scrutable enough. Even Calvin doesn’t like Calvin.

Which has the following anagram: “Curse It, Nobleman.”

Hmmm … I thought it was a threatening sky. Was surprised to learn it was actually an inscrutable omen.

Mother Nature has a mean sense of humor.

Calvin Cloud? Don’t like his under ware, they just seem to evaporate……

This might be funnier if the cloud shape was that of Susie or Hobbes!!

A Calvinistic omen? Or an anti-Calvinist omen?

I don’t think I’ve ever used the word “inscrutable” in my entire life. Heard the word, sure. If I DID ever use the word, I was being sarcastic or acting the role of someone haughty. It just isn’t a word that works its way into regular usage.

I don’t know. I’m more wary of the scrutable omens I have been seeing lately.

I have the nicest friend in the world, but when he is angry he is the most frightful being I have ever seen and it is better not to meet him!!

Could be worse – the cloud could have peed on you. (Now where have I seen that before?)

Oh but there is Calvin, there is. What is worse is an overactive imagination.

Correction, that cloud’s look was scrutable.

Omens are wonderful things full of what ever it is you want them to have!

It’s saying you’re your own worst enemy, Calvin. The recent time travel arc is just one of many examples.

Cloud omens don’t always spell disaster: True Story- One day while stopped at a traffic light, I looked up and saw a cloud formation that appeared to be a giant hand, with it’s middle finger extended. I reluctantly moved when the light turned green. The rest of the day was no worse than usual.

At least the cloud didn’t pass gas in Calvin’s general direction

Some “omens” are so far from inscrutable it as if they’re using megaphones to say, “Yes, that’s right, what’s coming really is exactly what it looks like, if not worse!”

It depends: is that Calvin in the clouds or Lisa Simpson?
