But are the books rare? That would make them worth more. Like when I saw that someone on Ebay tried to sell Metroid Prime Trilogy for 5 grand for that same reason.
Aka Bill Watterson utterly nails the 90’s comics industry to the wall. And it’s sad when reality really wasn’t that far off. I suspect the only reason he didn’t comment on the art is that Rob Liefiled and others following him’s work was so rediculous he coudln’t compete. That and further down the road in the 90’s Leifield would lapse into self parody. Seriously he was so behind work that in order to get a crossover with valiant comics done on time, one of the writers came to his house and WATCHED him sketch it.
Decades ago I returned home from military service to find Mom had cleared out the attic. She canned years of #1 issues of all the comics I had gathered in the ’40’s. Worth a ton of bucks even then. BUT she kept my old report cards. Somehow there was very little market for those.
Do you know “The Comic Strip That Has A Finale Every Day”? https://www.gocomics.com/the-comic-strip-that-has-a-finale-every-day/2022/07/18?ct=v&cti=494537
I have a stash of about 300 comics from my youth back in the 1960s in my garage. They’re not in very good shape – wet, mildewed, and so on, but I still like to look at them when I’m cleaning out the garage.
I personally hate issue #0. It never made sense to me. All comic books need to go in bags. Some people insist on backer boards as well. Some comic books are created by committee.
For a while, there was a fashion in comic books to “spin off” a new series rather frequently, apparently to generate a lot of “first issues”, because very few lasted. (Please don’t provide a list of those that did.)
I got several big boxes of comics that I saved over 50 years not worth billions but hard to ditch them. 95 percent are military kind, kept the wrong titles and toss the originals Marvels.

I hope they are municipal bonds, which are triple tax free — depending on where you live.

Well there are quite a few issues of Captain Marvel #1, but no one wants to buy them. Captain Marvel has been rebooted about 12 times now.

Do you think I could get a dollar or two for my copy of Action Comics #1 ?

Peter Gabriel had three albums simply titled Peter Gabriel, with the title in the same font and size on the same part of the cover.

There’s a reason for those old comic books being sealed in plastic—take them out, and they immediately turn into confetti!!

There’s a committee that draws comics? Watterson did pretty well on his own.

Just make sure that the plastic bags don’t end up being worth more than the comic book, Calvin!

I sure wish I’d a saved those Terminator trading cards I bought. I had all of them in the original package. I’ll be their worth a small fortune today.

Yup, they started doing this crap long about the mid eighties, or 5 different covers for the same issue…

If Hobbes is getting residuals on these cartoons like an actor does for a TV series, he’s got a really nice retirement.

Poor Calvin – does not realize it is the true issue number that makes it valuable. If all issues are No. 1, they all are worthless.
