Yes, they can transport you quite a way. Just this week they’ve taken me to Imperial China, Stirling Castle, Colonial Boston and a lakeside town in Kentucky.

Some people use books to decorate their “libraries”. Some people use ’em to sit a bit higher. And SOME use them as virtual transport. That last category is the one I most admire.

We have been traveling for 4 years. Books don’t transport well. But then there is Kindle.

This one strip makes the whole arc worth the trip.

A kilometer? I don’t believe Michigan elementary students think in metric, even Caufield.

If Mrs. Olsen is stopping at that coffee shop and having a few donuts each day, won’t that negate any benefit she might otherwise derive from her participation in the “challenge”?

And we all know that Caulfield’s a voracious reader already, so his side of the “challenge” isn’t changing his habits significantly.

So it appears that the whole exercise (so to speak) has been pretty pointless. Is this what Mr. Mallett is working toward for the conclusion of the arc?

He needs to “adopt” some works of Alan Dean Foster.

It also gives Caulfield more ideas for Halloween.
