Those silly ads for tiny broadcast TV antennas say they pick up 4K TV signals. In the large city near me, the best broadcast signals are 1080i. Most are less, 720 or 480. I put up about 7 of those modern antennas (and returned them all) – none worked better than 50 yr old rabbit ears with an amplifier.

Same here. In 1948 first TV was terrible but my vision great. Now 2020 and TV is great but my vision terrible.

Like several I knew who didn’t see the benefit of color television when it came out and that they were color blind at the same time.

Who knows? Maybe one of these years we’ll actually see some 4K programming.

What does K stand for in this context? I know that sometimes it stands for “Kilo”, as in Thousand.

That’s actually true for most of the people shopping for 4K TVs right now.
And will be almost 100% true when manufacturers start pushing us to buy “8K” TVs in a couple years.
