“The wise man is joyful, happy and calm, unshaken…if day and night your soul keeps on its even and unswerving course, upright and content with itself, then you have attained to the greatest good that mortals can possess.”
Rat is getting into a rut. I’d throw in some suggestions, but mine tend to be too political, or even lawyerly. I can’t figure out where the humor lies in this idea: Making every self-proclaimed Republican candidate answer this question under oath:
“Do you believe the Big Lie that Joe Biden didn’t win in 2020?”
The joke is supposed to be the Catch-22. If they answer with the truth, then okay, but the video is going to kill them playing against their previous lies. But if they lie, then they get investigated for stupidity or simple perjury.
Being in the working class, I know too many people who say all their problems will be over if only they would win the lottery. For one thing, you’re more likely to be struck by lightning than to win the lottery. For another, lottery winners and other instant millionaires are rarely happy. You’re not happy unless you earn your money, but I can never convince others of these points.
Charlie Brown once said that the secret to happiness is owning a convertible and a lake; if it’s raining too much to drive with the top down, it will fill up your lake, and if the lake is drying up, it’s a good day to drive with the top down.
This reminds me of the time I asked a bartender who was a friend if he could give me change for a ten. He said “Change comes from within” and I said “yeah, within that cash drawer” while pointing to the register, and made him laugh

Happiness begins with a decision.
Are you ready to decide to be happy?
Are you ready to make the changes in your life that you know you need to make?

The true key to happiness is love and friendship. Well, for some people, anyways. Rat needs nothing but recognitions and attention.

If thou think “I cannot be happy until I have X,” you will not be happy if and when you attain X.
Be happy. It may help you attain your goals, but even if it doesn’t you remain happy.
