Do SuperHero’s not ever engage in a little consensual bedroom activity with each other, to get rid of the days tension?
And if they did, wouldn’t it require disclosure of something like an actual identity should Ms SuperHero come from a red state and find herself pregnant?
Where would the child support payments come from otherwise, the account of ‘Mr Super hero’?
Wonderful ending to the story arc but I think it would have been even better if other characters had seen the photos that Hobbes had taken of Calvin and had not only been amazed at Calvin acting out of character but had wondered who had taken the photos as they see Hobbes as a doll and don’t believe he can do the things that he does.
gotta wonder what kinds of stuff is in Buttercup’s childhood album. He surely didn’t become what he is when he reached a legal age – physically, that is. He has never reached mental maturity. He’s just old.
I mentioned yesterday that Hobbes’s main objection to Calvin’s fake photographic evidence seems to be that he prefers the real Calvin to the boy that Calvin might pretend to be in the future. In the first of these three strips, he asks Calvin “Why would you want a photo like that?” and today he points out “You hate sports!” The truth is that Calvin and Hobbes love making up their own sports and their own rules. Hobbes has said, “Mostly we argue about the rules we make up. That’s my favourite part.”
He actually has a good idea of how “college prep” works. I was “president” of a one-man Science Club and played junior varsity tennis my senior year, so that I could put “leadership” and “sports” on my college applications. Worked pretty well. I could have had honors-at-entrance at the University of California but went to a military academy instead – could have had a much different life.
Maybe Calvin would let Hobbes read his comics more often if the tiger wouldn’t keep spoiling all the plot details out loud while reading them. (Kind of like when my brother reads the Sunday comics before everyone else.)

One day Hobbes will ask for too much and find himself in a box in the attic.

Of course Hobbes will go back on his word thanks to Calvin being a bad influence on him.

But against all odds, Amazon Babe has 1) class and 2) standards, and tells Maggot Man to buzz off.

And when Dad sees that photo, he’ll try to force Calvin to take up sports in order to “build character”!!

As a child, Calvin had a friend named Hobbes, who mysteriously disappeared shortly after this photo was taken.

Next, Hobbes will threaten to reveal Stupendous Man’s secret identity to the world-unless he gets a carton of canned tuna…

Today we call this “Instagram” and instead of needing to plan way ahead you can display pictures of a phony lifestyle in real time.
