For those who don’t understand what’s happening and why Puck seems to be able to sense and communicate with spirits, your “backgrounder” starts with the beginning of Georgia’s terrific 2018 Halloween adventure strip that started on 10/8/2018!
I think Tillie looks like she might have a idea. I can’t decide if Freddie looks like she is trying to think of something to help or if she is just looking concerned.
United people power and kitty power!!! Tillie and Freddie to the rescue. A good deed pays off now that the people and their cats are in need. Remember how they reunited Tillie with Freddie in this secret churchyard visit. Tillie and Freddie will show their gratitude (and that they care about the Big Pink House as affordable housing for cat-loving families.
This story line had better have a happy ending or I will be cancelling my subscription. In these days of plague , pestilence , war and the onset of armageddon BCN has been my only refuge for sanity . I need a Happy Ending. Cat Lives Matter. Save the Big Pink House.
See comments from late yesterday for a thrilling IRL adventure. Whole thing is on FB if you can access it and part on Insta too.
Georgia, so happy that adventure turned out to have a happy ending and all are safe and well. My cats have slipped out twice and I learned to search first around the outside of the house and under all decks. The little idiots have been grateful to be found and taken back inside.
Yes, Puck sees Tillie! Such a sympathetic smile she has. I think the ghosts and their centuries of knowledge of the Big Pink House might have some ideas. As a side note, ghosts would probably hate me, because as a history nut I would just pester them with questions. Finally, I hope Angus gets into this somehow!
We have discussed ‘right-sizing’ after the kids are gone. But anyplace that we find where I could avoid yard work or exterior home repairs would not allow our four cats and Iko, the pooch.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: So you’re saying there may be scrolls from the lost Meow-Lexandria Library that still exist?
Beatrixia: Yes, Your Majesty. According to what I’ve read, there were scrolls originally stored in the Very Good Pyramid. There may be some still there.
Puckmosis: And depending on what we find, it may be worthwhile to explore the Just Alright Pyramid as well.
The Queen: It sounds like there will be many exploration opportunities in the near future.
Alice-Ata: We would like to explore as well. No telling what we may able to obtain.
Bea: Not to mention we would like to check out the legend of the Do You Call This a Pyramid?!
The Queen: Alright. We’ll start with the Very Good Pyramid. Bea and Puck, start on selecting your team.
I keep seeing comments that the People should buy the BPH, but remember what Dr. Man said early on — the BPH used to offset the costs of running the Quinn Animal Shelter (https://www.gocomics.com/breaking-cat-news/2022/03/12). If they can get a first floor tenant, (and remember what Tommy said… https://www.gocomics.com/breaking-cat-news/2022/05/04) the Trust would have that income again. I’m concerned about the shelter too.
But just a new tenant won’t solve everything since they did just have to put on a new roof and they need a new heating system. Hopefully our intrepid reporters (living and spectral) can find the hidden treasure in the BPH and save the day!
Anyone who has read my description of how, for more than a year, I had a part-time cat named Tank, will know the awful, awful choices a sudden move can force on people.
For my previous move, I had six months notice, which was a Godsend. However, soon I am contemplating a 500-mile move and I have to give one month’s notice.
Beware of businesses who prey on anxious house seekers and never update their listings when residences are no longer available.
We were lucky to find apartments and hotels that took cats, and we had three cats. It’s nice to own our house, so we don’t have to worry about who takes cats. Houses aren’t cheap in CA, though we got one in a low-income development. A nice one, admittedly.
Don’t forget that you will need packing tape and markers for your moving boxes. And I know you’ll promise to stay in touch with everyone, but let’s be honest; that rarely happens in real life.
They could always hatch an ill conceived plot to have the ghosts scare away the new owners, thus setting the stage for wacky hijinks, which would surely result in the family getting to stay in the pink house.

Of course, Winifred and Matilda are together. I’d be willing to bet they have not been separated since their reunion.

Maybe Freddie knows where there is something in the BPH to solve this problem. She will just have to help the cats or the mice find it.

Maybe the weird room with purple wallpaper or the walled-off addition will hold something that will save the fate of the pink house!

OMD: If You Leave
Must we leave? With our four cats?
We love this Big Pink House
Where can we find another place
That will feel like home?
…….
We’ve always had our friends close by
Now we may have to move
Time seems to be running out
We have to find a place real fast!
…….
Tillie: I listened once, I listened twice,
I’ll help my friends at any price
Puck helped me once, and just like then
I’ll find a way to help my friends!
Somehow!
