Jokes aside, The Hail Mary Project is another outstanding work from Andy Weir. It is hard SF at its best, finding solutions to hard problems, and doing so without being silly. It would be my choice for the Hugo for best novel, but may lose to the Nebula Winner, A Master of Djinn, which is a fantasy novel — a good one, but I still prefer THMP.

Sounds suspiciously like a Larry Niven book I read some years ago. But I’ll check it out.

I only recently realized that Andy Weir was also the creator of the old “Casey & Andy” webcomic.

All books are the same…the words are just re-arranged, not used or forgotten.

Excellent book! Weir’s imagination is astonishing and he makes an alien with mercury for blood work.

Matt can play a horse.

A spoiler alert would have been nice, Verne. That book is still on my to-be-read shelf.
