well…for once I agree with Garfield. if there is no reason just “because”, there is no real reason to apologize.

The way Garfield is with Arlene id figured she’d have at least, ooh I don’t know, 2 DOZEN reasons to be mad at Garfield.

I would say “That is a great way to lose a relationship. People are not mind readers. Unless you say what the reason, you only make yourself look like a fool. How would you like it if I said I know some news about someone and refuse to tell you by saying you know what I am talking about.”
