@suv2000- I definitely agree with you on that! I’m 63 and retired and I still take my basketball out to the court and run my old keisters up and down! Fortunately I never abused my body! And because I learned HOW to play when I was younger, kids come on the court thinking that I’m an easy win until I embarrass them! Especially in front of their friends, most notably their girlfriends!
I say the only way that feigning-injury dive should be allowed, is if spectators can hold up scorecards rating the performance. Only 9.5 or better gets the foul. :)
Fake diving should be a foul … the pro games have instant replay that can make that happen … give soccer managers the ability to throw a red flag like in American football …!
Ok. First they did take out the diving in European soccer. They now use video assisted refereeing and goal line technology so fake diving and mis-called goals just don’t happen any more. And how can you equate scoring with action? Some of the most exciting games can be low scoring. Seriously watch the pitch not the scoreboard.
Regarding the “fake diving”, as I posted a few days ago, this seems to be the thing that people like to complain about most with regard to soccer/football. I don’t watch it (or any other sports, for that matter) myself, so I don’t have a strong opinion either way, but I did once read an interesting article on the subject which presented a contrary view. They said that top players in particular are often subject to deliberate and potentially disabling kicks and stomps by opposing players who are trying to take them out of the game or at least diminish their playing ability and make an effort to do so when the referees aren’t looking. So for their own protection the players who are targeted make a big show to draw attention to the attacks. In other words, they may be exaggerating the extent of their injuries, but if they didn’t, they’d end up suffering endless attacks behind the ref’s back.

The most excitement in any game is being a player on the field not a spectator

Soccer players learn half of their skills on the field and half of their skills at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
