Where I used to live (up to about eight years ago) was an ’elephant’s passage’ between a back lane and a main estate road. We used to have all the neighbourhood felines wandering through, including a lovely lump called Swanny, a tuxedo cat.
Now I’m in a flat some ten minutes walk from that lane but only have reason to head through there once a month. And I rarely see any of the Cats.
Yesterday I had to go down that lane and I hear a rustling from the school grounds. I look and Swanny comes running out down to me, looking exactly as he did the last time I saw him. Pick him up for a fussing. Claws like crampons in the shoulder. Purring, head rubbing, NOT using the crampon claws on exposed skin, licking my hand, licking my nose… A genuinely happy five minutes before I had to go.
Two things: 1) I’m FINALLY caught up on the backlog of the strip which was a journey, though if your new here I highly recommend it. This strip is one of the funniest and freshest i’ve seen in recent memory and joins other modern classics like Phoebe and Her Unicorn, Wallace the Brave, the Steenz soft reboot of Heart and the City, Crabgrass and Rosebuds in that regard, having a deep mythology somehow, great characters and a brilliant concept. My only real complaint is that the daily run didn’t redo key storylines like the first encounter with the ghosts and the owl saga despite both being refrenced and still in canon, making it harder for new readers. and 2) Look I know Lupin swats at company, but right now he’s not doing anything but being mildly upset you put him in a room against his will. Leave him be. If he swats THEN put my newly adopted grandpa son in a room. You just got through a massive finacial tunnel and are on the precipice of buying a house. You have other things to worry abotu besides the old man what yells at clouds. and probably swats at them too
I hadn’t thought about student loan forgiveness helping debt-forgiveness ratios. It does mean that more people will afford to buy their own homes, traditionally a way into the middle class. Thank you, President Biden.
When we left, (10) Tabitha was racing to the team with evidence of insider fraud with *Mrs. Foldman and Johnny* .
(10) Tabitha has found her way inside the Apartment of the woman, with the help of the muscle (2) Puck and (3) Elvis. Elvis escapes from the bathroom, so the (6) man quickly moves to grab him and put him in the bedroom with the kids.
(10) Tabitha moves quickly to the pizza box, where she knows the team will move their focus to.
(4) Goldie removes the Pizza menu from the box and tapes the incriminating evidence to the box.
(22) Beatrix, the kid, relays to the 2nd OP team that it is a go. "Lose the petition from Mrs. Foldman and Johnny to the Trust, and “misplace” their loan application".
Angus / 2nd OP Team (24) Carl / 2nd OP team (25) Lady Jane / 2nd OP Team (26) Agatha / 2nd OP Team (27) Baba Mouse / The LEAD of 2nd OP Team (28) July Bug / The Look-out for 2nd OP Team*
(27) Baba Mouse tells Jules to fly at (1) Lupin and have him give chase. Knock over a lamp or two to increase the distraction. Take the first Team offer and get it to (30) Dr. Man, the inside man.
The fact that Elvis’ word balloon covers some of the other dialog makes it seem rather ominous. I was hoping for charts and heists, but I suppose pizza will do. Next week: we see the People go to the bank for a loan!
I can see where Burt is coming from ala the Miracle comment. Heck as an FSU (Florida State) fan/alum I am amazed the good guys managed to beat LSU 2 weeks ago in Death Valley despite numerous attempts by the team to let the Bayou Bengals win and last night they managed to beat Louisville shorthanded. IF FSU can start 3-0, anything is possible y’all! I love this arc!
Are the man & woman in the 3rd panel, with Lupin (& pizza) a couple? I do not have a firm grasp on the identities of the People that we don’t see often. Thank you :)
I am so against student loan forgiveness. Miracle? NOT. Additional tax burden for those of us who paid our own tuition at less than ideal interest rates and at great personal sacrifice. So disappointed this issue came up in a cartoon (myfavorite) about cats. I’m not celebrating.
This is one of the justifications for the forgiveness program. It is a basic tenet of conservative economics that homeowners have a stronger interest in their communities than renters just trying to stay off the street.

Well? What toppings are on that pizza? Get to the important content here, reporters!
And is Elvis serving as a distraction so that the other cats can carry off the pizza?

I like how the Woman, just so happens to be holding the pizza slice such that Goldie can take a bite.

Elvis seems particularly incensed about the whole thing, Puck is bored, Goldie is trying to understand and Lupin just wants to break something.
