    I was a waitress in an ice cream shop in a mall up north X years ago. The woman in charge of the cashier was a piece of work. I watched as she approached the register, where a group of people were waiting to pay their bill and go back to work, then stop to clean a table. I shook my head, took care of the customers and went back to waiting tables. That place was crazy!

    This very same thing happened to me while arriving at the office one day. If that person doesn’t want to say hello or good morning, then they should at least grunt in acknowledgement.

    I tend to be a little snarky, in cases like this. If the clerk doesn’t even say “thank you,” I’ll just simply say something like “thank YOU, and you have a good day, too,” as I’m walking away.
