They have that sort of stuff on YouTube!

Ruthie is right. They don’t make music videos of good songs. That’s mainly because they don’t make good songs any more.

I watched a music video yesterday. Beethoven Symphony #6. Claudio Abbado conducting the Berlin Philharmonic. Glorious.

I guess this takes place before YouTube was a thing.

I’m sure you can look up that purple dinosaur guy. That might be more to your liking Ruthie. My wife was watching our niece. She was about Ruthie’s age; she said she didn’t care for Barney, the reason being was “there’s too much love on that show.”

“You can listen to a song hundreds of times and get something new from it every time. How many times you can watch a video? Three? Four? A dozen if you’re a complete vegetable?”

Are they watching A-Ha’s “Take On Me” video? It’s in black and white.

Little Orley and the Cricket is on YouTube. So are lots of other children’s songs. I’ll bet Ruthie would like those. Another recommendation— ‘Shake Sugaree’ by Elizabeth Cotton. Lots of covers have been done of it, but my favorite is the one by Rhiannon Giddens.
