Negative, imaginary and complex numbers are really useful in describing electricity. Just because you don’t use a tool, doesn’t mean that’s true of everyone else as well.
I’ve used algebra – on rare occasions – but to this day I’ve never in my life encountered any situation that required me to multiply negative numbers. But I do still know that rule…just in case I ever actually find myself needing it sometime within the first few eons of eternity….

It’s simple. If the first negative is “debt”, then the second negative reduces the debt. That reduction is a positive

It all depends on what you are doing. I used trig when working on a CCTV surveillance system for the City’s subway system.
