It’s December 1. Time to flip that calendar page. This month’s page is so beautiful, and yet so bittersweet—Lupin as the Ghost of Christmas Presents. I remember when I previewed the calendar pages hoping that Lupin would still be with us when it would be time to turn to this page.
Sorry, I didn’t see your message about Cindy until today. Everyone else has said the nearly all the things I want to say, so I will just add that I’m sure you and Cindy will meet again in another life. (Perhaps you will be her cat, or she will be your helpful Geography teacher.) And my usual reminder that, when the time is right (no rush), the best tribute you can pay to her is to give a good home to another cat.
Here’s a link to see the calander. Look to the left and click on each small window. It’s the Tarot Deck that Georgia posted on Twitter, and I think Facebook.
While I was checking something out on yesterday’s BCN I saw that Georgia posted very late in the day. Of course it is now the featured comment. Check it out, it is cute.
Now, thanks to this comic. PK’s new nickname is “Peace Pickle” She clings to me like a little “Cat monkey” every time I sit in my office chair. It’s cute, except for all the scratches on my chest.
Huh while I knew Ora probably needed a calming influence I never thought Iggy needed the opposite. Also Elvis, your my faviorite, sure.. but you already got to BE a child’s faviorite with Bea (even with her teasing). Let your brothers have a turn being primary parent to a children.
Good chart, Goldie, that explains it very well! I am sure Puck will praise her when he can. It is a bit ambiguous, but to me Goldie’s expression in panel 4 says “Sure you are, pal. Sure.”
Late yesterday, Georgia posted: ““Hold me like a baby and feed me a hamburger” is a real thing the Girl once said to me as a toddler, during a dramatic sigh after running around. It’s become a favorite saying in the family and needed a place in the comic at last, lol!” Thanks Lovebrittv for mentioning this so I could go back and find it.
Elvis, you were also distancing yourself from them, so you didn’t exactly give them the chance to interact with you before crossing paths with Lupin and Puck, so…kinda brought that on yourself, there.
I’ll probably not live long enough to have a pair of kittens to name Yin and Yang. Come to think of it, that symbol could have been inspired by two cats chasing each other.
OT: Lupin & Iggy & Lamps – Message from Georgia: Lupin loved lamps and light. He would seek out the warm glow of lamps wherever we lived, however he could. His favorite spot to sleep or rest tended to be right under lamps. As you can see, he also often sat UNDER lampshades. We lost a few lamps to Lupin pushing them off tables. He had a heck of a trick of bringing down a lamp so only the lightbulb smashed. Then the Man would have to carefully remove the metal threading from the unplugged lamp. A few times this also broke the neck of the lamps, which is how our real life owl lamps became bookends lol. He also had a habit of sometimes gently tilting my beside lamp across me while I was sleeping, so I’d wake up with a lamp on my shoulder. (You can’t make this stuff up And it doesn’t work in the comic because it’s SO out there It’s thoroughly Lupin, lol.) Iggy trotted in Lupin’s shadow all over the house. As he’s grown we’ve noticed he took on Lupin’s love of lamps and basking in their light. He curls up in many of the same spots Lupin loved
Foxy is snurgling next to me and purring herself to sleep. Darnit, I have to get up to check on the turkey loaf. No, she can’t have any, it’s full of onions.
Thank you to all for your purrs and healing vibes for the senior resident. They are still messing about with her blood pressure medication, she seems better on that front. She was hospitalized twice in November for it and had the stomach bug that’s going around, also twice. I canceled my doctor appointments to drive her to the urgent care she trusts (30-35 miles from here). If she gets it again she’ll have to call her doctor for a refill on the anti-nausea pills that worked for her, drink ginger tea and take it easy here. I am not rescheduling any more of my own health needs.

I think Goldie made her own poster. I love the scribbled coloring on the drawings of the two young cats.

In Honor of the Late, Great Christine McVie: Everywhere
Iggy: Do you see me running?
All around the room
Lupin and I knocking down lamps
Send them to their doom!
I’ll meow a little louder, I’ll shout out loud,
Lupin has shown me that it’s fun to run around!
Oh-oh
I wanna run around everywhere
Oh-oh
I wanna run around everywhere!
…….
Ora: I live in chaos, that’s what I do,
But I love how calm I feel when I’m with you,
Sometimes I get restless on a Human’s lap,
But when I’m with you it’s so much fun to nap!
Oh-oh
I wanna nap with you any timeOh-oh
I wanna nap with you any time!

No Elvis, you are dignified. Dignified and calm are not always, but in this case are probably mutually exclusive.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Iggy Shipwright: Do we have everything for the fishing run?
Freshwater Cat: Yep. Here are the nets, the bait, and the fishing creels.
Saltwater Cat: And we’ve got snacks for real.
Iggy: I love to go fishing. It’s even more fun than thwumping!
Fresh: Well, make sure you don’t thwump while we’re fishing. You might scare the fish.
Sometime Later, In the Royal Kitchen
Thomios: It looks like Fresh and Salty had a successful fishing run. Ora, I’d like you to get together the ingredients for fish stew.
Ora Z: On it! Hmmm…It looks like we’re out of a few things. Oh, wait, Agnes-Ata, is that you?
Agnes: Yep. And don’t worry about the ingredients. They’ll be here soon.
Ora: Really? How?
Agnes: We’ll never tell!

Nobody can tell ya
There’s only one act worth bringing
They may try and sell ya
’Cause it hangs them up
To see someone like you
But you gotta make your own kind of mischief
Do your own special wrong
Make your own kind of mischief
Even when nobody else tags along
