I get really fed up when a parcel arrives and sometimes they don’t even bother to knock on the door, they just leave it on the doorstep – ready for someone to steal.
I work for a furniture store. We call the customer the day before with a ONE HOUR time frame and if the drivers are running behind they call the remaining deliveries and let them know. Just like in other businesses things can go awry. Like when setting up a bunkbed and the manufacturer hasn’t drilled the holes so they match up.
Do what I did and cut the cable. I got the streaming app You Tube TV and no stress messing with cable equipment going out waiting to be charged a fortune when they come out
yamato and sagawa, the two main parcel delivery services in most of japan, deliver exclusively at lunch time in our area. we moved across town during the past year and i’m still scratching my head at the logistics of trying to deliver only at lunch time to an entire town. if we specify morning delivery the guy shows up at 11:59 on the dot…
Among the problems we have had – since the start of the pandemic – food from BJs to be delivered to front door on left side (not center of house ) was delivered to center door (what if it was someone else’s door?).
Food orders from Walmart – to explain, WM stores here do not deliver – nearest one that delivers in next state 3 hours and about $20 in tolls away – this was ordered through WM website and shipped from WM warehouse literally from MA to CA to us. Over 60% of cans were dented – most almost in half, boxed items (such cake mixes, etc) looked as if someone had jumped up and down on them, husband had ordered a set of 2 plastic boxes of cooking oil 48 oz each (about to start the second one over 3 years later) had the necks of the bottles folded into the bottles such that they cannot be stood up, and so on. Packages arrived over a 2 week period little by little by Fed Ex.
Ordered CO monitor for RV – specifically checked that it would be the RV model and not the boat model. Guess which arrived? Shipped from west coast Canada and had to pay shipping both ways.
Christmas 2020 ordered gifts for husband’s nieces (teenager and preteen at the time) to be delivered to their house. Ordered first week of December – 2 week delivery. Charged for delivery even though over minimum as coming from 2 locations. Gift for older girl arrived a week later – good, gift for younger girl arrived in January! And she could not understand why her sister got a gift for Christmas and she got a late gift as if we had forgotten her.
And long before the 2020s there was the $435 box of fabric left on driveway behind husband’s car so he was home to accept it when they came and the 45" thick roll of quilt batting I stopped the UPS man delivering by leaving on driveway and was told that he only was allowed to get a signature if the item was delivered to a business name – which was being done!

Funny, our cable guy gives a four-hour window. Give them a really bad rating on Yelp.

I am currently sitting at home waiting for the courier who gave me an eight-hour window.

USPS routinely gives me tracking data that generally amounts to a 9 to 16 DAY window!

Tell the neighbor to call the urologist and say: “I can’t go. Hopefully there’s an opening soon. We’ll just have to go with the flow.”
