So, over the last few years, I’ve noticed that “pets” have somehow risen to human baby status (birthday parties, personalized portraits, insurance, etc.) while actual human babies have lost status. Just a cultural observation over the decades.

This must be what the Chinese communists were on about when they used to denounce “capitalist running dogs”.
