    /// Jean Daiwaille’s self-portrait here shows

that he wasn’t ashamed of his nose,

    or his disheveled hair,

    or his sad beagle stare.

For the rest, I’ll continue in prose:

(My first reaction is that this painting looks very much like the actor Jack MacGowran made-up to play Professor Ambrosius in Roman Polanski’s “The Fearless Vampire Killers.”)

Jean Augustine D. painted himself as he pawsed half-way through his “Shaggy Dog” transformation. Any further along, and his pallet would have had only gray shades.

The fur that festoons his face/

    Belongs in a different place/

    Perhaps it’s a swatch/

    That fled from his crotch/

To a climate more to its taste..///

    Whoever this fellow is/

(It’s probably none of my biz)/

    Whatever his shtick/

    He’ll not find a chick/

With that pitiful mustache of his/

    Despite his expression satanic/

We have simply no reason to panic/

    No philosopher he/

    He adopted plan B/

    He’s a prosperous auto mechanic.

    (Actually, it’s a self-Portrait)

    His happiness, sadly. depends/

Not upon the kindness of friends/

    But upon his shampoo/

    Which has failed to undo/

A terrible case of split ends..)///

    His expression is suitably grim/

For the problem that’s plaguing him:/

He spent all of his loot/

    On that suave satin suit/

And he hasn’t the price of a trim.

    Self-portrait

    Paste (including the quote marks)

    "Category:Jean Augustin Daiwaille" site=commons.wikimedia.org

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, and Yandex search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first Category: found, and once there find the text string Zelfportret, and click its link for info and links that point to more info (best viewed using Google Chrome which can automatically translate most webpages as necessary) about this roughly jumbo envelope size painting.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (Ctrl- or right-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #3043 (December 13, 2022) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment, and using the dropdown menu (even larger if you trim what’s after .png from the URL). I have added a comment there pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. First work by this artist used here.
