The Christmas season outside the USA goes all the way into the new year, even to January 6th. Of course it often starts in late September, as they don’t all our extra holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving and so forth. So maybe we should be more grateful, outside of of early Christmas sales and radio station programming, our Christmas season is fairly short.
I’m with Eno on this one. Christmas is a holiDAY, not a season. The idea that it runs for 3 months out of the year from Oct-Dec becomes maddening year-after-year. It also makes Christmas less special to have 90 days of it in a row.
Personally, I would love for the local radio stations to continue playing an occasional Christmas song, as I consider Christmas, and New Year’s Day to be the “Holiday Season.” After New Year’s Day, then, go back to their regular programming.

When people hum the same song incessantly, do they hum in and stay awhile?
