Mom always cut the crust off her bread. I thought it was silly. Never told her so. I like the crust.

with all the kids having gluten and peanut allergies – who could risk packing sandwiches in a school lunch these days?

Is hating bread crusts a universal kid thing?

I used to hide mine on a ledge under the table. When the moving men pulled the table apart, a bunch of petrified crusts tumbled out.

Eat outside and feed the crusts to the birds.

Get a life, Zoe. At least you have a lunch, an education, and a mother who’s willing to do all that for you.

Yes, don’t get any fiber at all. That is why younger people are winding up with colon cancer.

My oldest daughter tried that once. Her mother and I told her the crust was part of the bread and if she didn’t eat that , she wouldn’t get anything. I didn’t cut the sandwich figuring she’d have to eat the crust to get to the middle. When I got home from work, her mother showed me the two rings of crust. Come dinner time, the two rings were on her plate and she had to eat those before she got any dinner meal. Good thing we were having pizza to make the battle shorter. Her next sandwich she ate the crust.

I remember crustless mini sandwiches for company but the crust is delicious! ☺️

Question: You who have children, and/or need to pack lunches. Which regulations have schools today about changes lunches, or a pupil “just add something ‘for fun’ to an allergic schoolmate”?

An allergic can understand that he/she can only eat his/hers own lunch, but I’m sure there are children who don’t think about consequences.

My grandson was this way. His mom bought crustables and he still left the edges

I could never understand this- -I knew some one would not eat anything with buns because of all the crust!

My mom told me that the crusts would give me curly hair. Nope. The only time I had curly hair was when she’d treat me to a home perm (Toni?).
