If they can get the keys from under the fridge, The People can finally explore the mysterious walled off section of the house, and discover the horrors that were locked away there.
Let’s just hope the people have a nice thin yardstick to help retrieve the keys from under the fridge—assuming that they know the keys are under the fridge.
So we’re gonna be hearing some complaining from Sophie about being stuck in the car for the transfer? She’s looking a bit nervous back there. I’d be more worried about how she’d adjust to the move if she hadn’t already been at the BPH and at least tolerated her stay.
Good grief! How many keys do you need for one apartment? (I’ve never lived in any multiple dwelling unit larger than a duplex, to which I had one, count it, one key.)
I am curious that Tabitha is addressing Puck in panel 2, who does not appear in the strip. I am wondering if perhaps the keys for the current BPH residence go to the addition, so they do not have to use the hammer method. Also, we are one step closer to seeing the downstairs apartment!
It’s nice to see Tabitha and Fig again and hopefully more now they’ll have new neighbors as they’ve kinda fallen out of focus. They’ve shown up more since this storyline, but generally only tend to show up when all the cats get together. I get why as the cast has expanaded, I just miss them sometimes.
Also Sophie’s expression in her and Tommy’s panel… I never thought about this before but I worry for our cat with one good eye going into this move. Sophie is an introvert on a normal day, and while she’s become friends with the cast and let them in, it’s still a brand new place that’s liable to be scary for her. It dosen’t help that most of the OG Trio.. didn’t have the best interactions to moving. While Elvis (Sophie’s possible boyfriend in my eyes, I wear my ships shamelessly), wanting to live under the Bereau now was unsuprising, even gentle Puck whose normally more outgoing.. did NOT want to leave his carrrier. Now take that and add it to someone who hates leaving, and people and generally anything but isolation and I worry for her.
I love that the sets Lupin and Tabitha are reporting on match – their People are getting access to the same new spaces – while the same set is visible among Tommy and Sophie’s new keys. It’s a great detail.
A little bit off topic from where the story line has moved today (back to the sale of the BPH). Due to some travel I have coming up, I took the Christmas tree down yesterday evening while our kittens were eating dinner in their room. It took Comet (the tuxedo male) until after Christmas to start trying to play with the garland and lights and batting at a few of the lower ornaments and he seems to have trained Neptune (virtually all black female). The lower ornaments needed moved higher and we just had to deal with resetting the garland and lights. I didn’t think any climbing had occurred, but when I was dismantling the tree (yes, its artificial), I discovered a few branches with some unusual bends in them, suggesting at least one attempt at climbing (or stretching) up the interior of the tree. Overall, not too bad (no one singing Ora’s version of Hi Ho) and no lasting damage to anything.
I do a lot of crossword puzzles and if I don’t put away the pencil, my calico Miwa will hide them. We once moved the coffee table and found 21 pencils under it.
Don’t listen, Iggy. Now you’ll never get out of the kitchen. And the Woman won’t be able to go get you the good kibble so you’ll have to settle for the bad kibble the man will buy thinking there’s no difference.

When you’re dreary
Feeling sad at all
When tears are in your eyes
These cats dry them all
They’re on your side
Oh, when times get rough
And friends just can’t be found
It’s like a fridge over dozens keys, yeah
Where they keep them down
Like a fridge over dozens keys, yeah
Where they keep them down
When you’re down and out
When you’re on the street
When you see the door falls hard
They’re comfy in there
They’ll take your spare parts
Oh, when darkness comes
And you’re still out around
Cause the fridge’s over all your keys now
Where they keep them down
Cause the fridge’s over all your keys now
Where they keep them down
Slip on silver keys
Slip on by
Your time has come to hide
And they twinkle on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a key
You stand outside without, I see
Cause the fridge’s over all your new keys
And that blows your mind…

When they fish the keys out from under the fridge, will they find Lupin’s missing bell?

Lupin, if they can’t find the keys they’ll all have to live with you. Are you ready for that many humes?

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Lupinium: I’m working on a new move to teach my Advanced Thwump class. Want to see it?
Elvis-Anum: Does it involve any office supplies going missing?
Lupinium: No, your pens and brushes are all safe.
Beatrixia: Just make sure there’s no one around to startle.
Louie-Nour: No problem. Bring on the thwump.
Lupinium: Right. Now I need a few gemstones.
Bea: I can get some from the treasure room.
Elvis: Glad someone found a use for those.
Lupinium: Now, I start by juggling the gems, then I make a giant leap, catch them in the air, and end with a tremendous THWUMP!
Elvis: Very good! Now how about we go to the kitchen to demonstrate how to make tea and scones disappear!

He bats the house keys in
You fish the house keys out
He bats the house keys in
As he shakes ’em all about
Iggy smiles okey-dokey
As you yank your poor hair out
That’s when it’s time to pout
And you’re shoutin’ “holey moley”
As you’re late for goin’ out
That’s what it’s all about

I guess they closed on the Big Pink House. Which means The Woman doesn’t have to worry about how many cats she has.

Asking a rhetorical question here – Are the People clueless???
Why would they leave a set of keys unattended? Have they met Lupin?

One main concern: If the Humans retrieve the keys from under the fridge, will they also find Lupin’s bell? And will Elvis have a monumental puff?

If everyone has a complete set of keys to the BPH, are they setting up a commune?
DorseyBelle almost 2 years ago
Yup, keys, hair ties, twistie wires, plastic eggs, pens, … all these go under the refrig. Take notes, Iggy, if you’re going to be a house cat.
