None of our founding fathers thought that firearms would evolve beyond the single shot musket so using their words to justify people running around with 30 shot magazines does not fly . .
The new ‘norm.’ Metal detectors in primary schools. Very, very sad. Legislation won’t do as much to stop gun violence as responsible and sensible adult who take stiff precautions with their young.
Actually the founding fathers got it right. It’s the subsequent courts that have got it wrong, time and again. People just don’t like reading the entire 2nd amendment nor do some like what it actually says.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
A vast majority of countries require some sort of military service by their citizens. Responsibility goes hand in hand with a citizens rights.
Reminds me of that meme (I will pay attention if they’re clever and true) that read Nancy Reagan was against the LGB until her daughter came out, against stem cell research until Ronny had Alzheimer’s… punchline being Republicans don’t care until it happens to them.Less apparent are those like Hershel Walker was and continues to be anti abortion except for his own handmaid handiwork. There have been others that made the news.
The problem is back then it might take weeks before anyone heard about it….now, you might be seeing it live and still nothing good happens to fix the problem.
IMHO, The “founding fathers” couldn’t agree either and that’s why 2A is deliberately ambiguous. They were probably deluded enough that they thought we would’ve fixed it by now.
And yet no pollie, or president, has the balls to do anything about it.If you got both sides together (that of course is my argument’s weak point) and they all voted for change, and all the media got together (another weak point) something might happen

We had no standing army. Every adult male was in the army and required to provide his own gun.

If one of their kids got shot in school, the rest could have escaped while the shooter was reloading.

The first school shooting actually took place in 1700s (prior to revolution) – mass shooting where the instructor and 9 or 10 students killed.

But it DIDN’T happen, because they didn’t have to deal with all the whack job liberal nonsense people have to deal with these days.

If today’s kids were raised with a little discipline like the founding fathers kids, none of this would be happening today.
