Sweetheart, who’s hand is that on your shoulder? Is somebody hiding behind you?

/// “Honey, on teasing taunts do not dwell.

In the film, Thor’s big sister looked swell.

    She was played, don’t forget,

    by the svelte Cate Blanchett.

What they meant was that you look like Hel.”

Yes, you do look like Thor’s older sister, but that’s just because we’re vikings. We all look alike. The only way I can tell you from the others is that you make that funny noise when we make love.

Forgive the esoteric nature of this comment. The brother and sister in this image brought to my mind the characters Siegmund and Sieglinde in Wagner’s Die Walkure. (It is actually a depiction of Arminius Says Goodbye to Thrusnelda.)

    https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Gehrts_Armin_verabschiedet_sich_von_Thusnelda_1884.jpg

That in turn brought to mind Thomas Mann’s short story, “The Blood of the Walsungs,” a disturbing work that offended Mann’s father-in-law as a smear on his family and was withdrawn from publication for many years (The brother and sister characters committed incest, as in the the original German mythology.) I enjoy reading Thomas Mann’s work, even if it’s only in translation.

I appreciate “That is Priceless” for stimulating an interest in visual arts and prompting me to do Google Research into the backgrounds that are biographical, sociological, and literary.

I’m sorry to be so long and boring in my comments.

Thor’s sisters’ boobs are a little bit bigger than yours.

You are a real fan when you see Thor and Jane together in Thor Love and Thunder and think to yourself “Gee, Captain Kirk’s father and Luke and Leia’s mother dated. How cool is that?”

    Armin says goodbye to Thusnelda

    Paste (including the quote marks)

    "Category:Johannes Gehrts" site=commons.wikimedia.org

(syntax supported by the Google, Yahoo, Bing, Duckduckgo, Ecosia, and Yandex search engines) in the address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and click the first Category: found, and once there, search for the Armin text string, and click its link for info and links that point to more info (perhaps best viewed using Google Chrome, which can automatically translate most webpages if necessary) about this painting.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by merely clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s THROWBACK THURSDAY: MASTERPIECE #1516 (8/17/16) (January 4, 2023) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment. I have added a comment there (awaiting Mr. Melcher’s approval) pointing to the artist info I used to point to here. So far, 2 works by this artist have been used here (3 times total, including this Throwback Thursday repeat), the August 17, 2016, strip being its first use. The August 31, 2016, strip is the prior non-repeat by him.
