Back in high school, a friend of mine and I spent some time at the guidance counselor’s office looking a what colleges offered the engineering courses we planned to take.
Because of this, both of us were late for our French class. Our teacher asked, “Pourquoi êtes-vous en retard?” (Why are you late?). Since this was 4th year French and all conversation in the class had to be in French, my friend struggled at length to explain the situation.
The teacher turned to me and said, “Etes vous?” I replied, “La même chose” (The same thing.)
Poor Charlie Brown. He cannot win no matter what. Usually, he doesn’t speak up for himself and suffers the consequences of his silence. When he finally speaks up for himself and still suffers nonetheless!

Wow. Two in a row. I don’t think even Lucy has made CB lose his patience like that. I wonder what kind of strike will she get the third time.

See, this is what I mean. Peppermint Patty is the catalyst and then she blames those around her for the trouble she causes.

Charlie Brown, the good-hearted Caspar Milquetoast of my generation, and Peppermint Patty, a narcissistic hot mess. A recipe for disaster.

As is so often the case in life and sport; it’s not the instigator who gets caught, it’s the one who retaliates in self-defense.

Y’know what – this one’s on Chuck, for real. All he had to do was shut up and let Patty do the talking.

How quickly Peppermint Patty and Charlie Brown have advanced to an older stage of marriage, and they are not even married yet.
