I don’t know why, but this reminds me of the MST3K short “Uncle Jim’s Dairy Farm”…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFRS3LMgFfM

Garfield should think about it carefully. You need cows for milk, chickens for eggs and people to pick up corn, tomatoes and wheat. If those chores aren’t done then then there is no cheese for lasagna, no tomatoes for the salsa, no eggs and wheat for the pasta and no corn for a nice corn with butter.

If you get up early and get your chores done, you get to stay up late and watch the 6 pm weather before going to bed.

“ON THE FARM, EVERYBODY RISES EARLY TO DO THEIR CHORES”

(imagines a different version of this part of the dialogue of this cartoon)

ON THE FARM, EVERY BODY RISES TO DO CHORES

A sudden, abrupt trip to the Arbuckle farm! Why not make a week of it like in the strip’s old days?

I’d love to sleep in but my chickens want out at the crack of dawn. At least I don’t have to milk cows any more.

Garfield, have you ever thought about how hard people on the farm work to make the food that you eat? You should at least be grateful and appreciative for that.

Gotta get up early to do their farm chores so they won’t be late getting to work in the city or the kids going to the little red schoolhouse in time…
