I have posted this before, but I will again. If you love maps Mapheads by Ken Jennings is a great read. It covers everything from the first maps that warned “there be dragons here” in what is now the Americas to geocaching.
There are companies which sponsor virtual hikes with real medals available. Conqueror Challenges is one; you can sign up for hikes based on the real world or ones based on fantasy, such as The Lord of the Rings. You get digital postcards, trees planted, and other incentives to complete your goal.
