Calvin — that young romantic — will do anything to impress Susie.

Inflationary won’t stop you there, Calvin.

Susie can make you eat worms without even trying.

What a maroon. She plays him like a fiddle.

Inflationary Disgust is the name of my new emo band.

His insides will be infested with worms in a few years!!

I’ll be waiting right here until Calvin digs up the other four worms !

She did a great job of calling his bluff. The risk for Susie now is that Calvin will start to see her as more than just a booger-brained girl. (His words, not mine.)

She totally has your number, boy.

Reminds me of a story in our reading book in elementary school in the 60s. This kid goes around boasting that he knows how to prepare “angleworms on toast” and when his uncle comes for a visit he calls the kid’s bluff and tells him to make him some. Our teacher somehow never picked that story for in-class reading, but I always devoured the whole book in the first few days of the new school year. I had to ask my mother what “angleworms” were. She told me they were just nightcrawlers.

Calvin, you have been played.

Using his superior intelligence, he will get the better of her and eat six!

Susie is very shrewd. She certainly knows how to push Calvin’s buttons!!

BTW, I wonder how she used the prize she won for her poster.

I love that Susie even entertained Calvin’s worm eating

She’s the future host of “Fear Factor”

He shouldn’t have shown an example and said “this worm”. Otherwise he could have gotten away with eating gummy worms.

Calvin will try to worm his way out of the situation he has created but he needs help to get out of it. I enjoyed reading the ending of this story arc and I will enjoy the different reactions that other commentators will have to it.

He raised the bar and became his own victim of his own doing.

Inflationary. Talk about temptation.

Just noticed, Calvin has a 5" inseam, those are some short legs.

Whenever someone tells me to “go big or go home”, I’m sooooo tempted to leave, even if I want to do whatever it is. Besides, whatever it is, is usually something I don’t really care to do anyway.

LOL… The boy needs therapy.

the question for today is – can the ones who wish to disgust everyone with their behavior keep up with the inflationary trend? it would seem so after doing a perusing scan of the headlines or social media each day.

How to eat fried worms. I googled that to make sure I got the title correct and it said it is a movie. I remember it as a book.

You brought it upon yourself, Calvin; dig your own grave while you’re at it.

I figured this was yet another classic story from the early 1990’s when Watterson was at his peak. As for disgust being ‘inflationary’, I don’t even WANT to know about 2023 prices.
