Gladys should try the same trick she used on Wilberforce yesterday. On Brussels sprouts I agree with Brutus.

A little Brussels sprouts go a long ways.

Brussels are really bad tasting.

I love them. Sliced thin and stir fried. A little Parm cheese, yum!

Why does everyone hate Brussels sprouts? I love them. But they shouldn’t serve them in restaurants since everyone hates them.

Peas and green beans are higher up on my list.

Love them; once you have been homeless you learn there are many things worth eating. Otherwise you starve.

Brussels sprouts are from Belgium so they must be like Tuesdays to the days of the week.

Yuck! My mom always made them for dinner because she liked them. My brother and me didn’t. If we didn’t eat them we went without desert. That was fine with us. When I was a mom, I never served them to my children. They would have to try them on there own.

Brussel Sprouts have had the bitterness bred out of them. About 30 years old, scientists identified the chemicals that caused the bitterness and selectively bred the brussel sprouts until the chemicals were gone.

If you haven’t had them since then, give them a try. They are quite good halved, tossed with olive oil, salt and pepper and then roasted in a hot oven until tender.

I’ll kind of agree with you Brutus. They’re not my favorite veggie but parsnips and turnips are much higher on my list of veggies to avoid.

That depends Brutus, many professions have to be staffed 7 days per week. Police, fire fighters, corrections officers, medical, fast food and convenience stores.

I worked a rotating schedule, 6 days on, 2 off, so Monday was rarely MY “Monday” and every 6th week Monday was my Friday

I have never eaten Brussels sprouts, probably because my mom bought them canned. I should try some my child makes. She is an excellent cook. They are just little cabbages, right? I like cabbage, but raw only. I don’t imagine plain raw Brussels sprouts would be very good.

I used to like Brussel Sprouts but the last ones I ate were bitter.

Brussels get a bad rap because they’re frequently under cooked. They also need to be well seasoned and maybe with butter added. I felt like Brutus did about asparagus spears, but I find that a thin layer of cheese helps a lot.

Give me Meatloaf Monday over Brussels Sprouts they taste nasty

I, like I suspect so many others, developed distaste for them because of the way they were prepared. The were bought frozen and just boiled in water. No seasoning or anything. They tasted like they were boiled in dirty water.

We had a family member visit Saturday who requested New York strips steaks, twice baked potatoes and grilled brussels sprouts. Everyone gobbled them up, even a 4 year old.

If Thorny wanted Belgian, he’d choose waffles.

Brussels sprouts should not be allowed out of Belgium.

Roast them with Bacon!! Bacon makes EVERYTHING taste better!

Totally dis-agree. I love them. Good sprinkle of salt cut a few slashes in them and sprinkle with malt or apple cider vinegar… Yum.

I like Brussels Sprouts…Mondays, not so much.

Blackened in garlic oil – yummy! But boiled like I suffered thru as a child – blah.
