Actually, I wasn’t born until the mid-70s. But I can assure you that my parents bought me a used bicycle with a banana seat that was from the mid-70s. And Evel Knievel was still just as big a deal by then.
Sunday afternoon sports on tv when I was a kid (very early ’50’s) was invariably roller derby – tough female types skating in circles trying to knock each other out – as if to make up for no NASCAR races on tv. Truly boring.
